The Pursuit of Perfection: Why Settling for Less Will Leave You Falling Short

What this article will discuss:

The pursuit of perfection, and why striving for anything less than perfect will lead you to fall short.

Why you should read it:

Life is a competition, if you're not committed to being the best version of you, you will lose out to someone who is.

The modern world is obsessed with telling us we can't be perfect. Perfection is only attainable through airbrushing, or 'alternative facts'. Striving for perfection is bad for your health, it leads to indecision, inefficiency, and missing the big picture.

If that is true, why are characteristics like "high attention to detail" and "always delivers to the best of their ability" such desirable personality traits? Surely if perfection is unattainable, employers should be looking for candidates who know their limits, and never reach beyond them...

I'd argue not only is perfection something that you can strive for; it is something that you should strive for. It's true that in most aspects of life achieving 100% is almost impossible. But what is ALWAYS possible is achieving your 100%, being your best version of you. If you chase perfection, you will catch excellence, or so the saying goes.

Remember, where your career is concerned, life is a competition. Accepting anything less than your best is accepting that somebody out there is out-working, and out-performing you. There is no problem with being happy with where you are. But when you're passed over for that promotion, know that you only have yourself to blame. Don’t let it get to that point, get out there and start chasing your perfection.
